Taking Photographs of Dogs and Cats

  1. It is normally best for three people to be involved in photographing your pet: one to hold the pet, one to attract its attention and one to take the picture.
  2. Try to get your pet to look slightly to the left or right of the person taking the photograph, whilst looking alert or in a pose that brings out his/her character.
  3. It is very important to come down to the same level of the subject. Sit on the floor if necessary.
  4. Try to get the photograph with the pets mouth closed. It does make for a better portrait, although this may not always be possible.
